This week was back to school for me. I got back into the usual schedule without much trouble. Mom managed to finish a puzzle and make some scones. Dad had to go back to work. If you were wondering, we were all in bed by 9:00 PM on New Year's Eve.
On Tuesday after school was done I went sledding with my friends. It was me, Jonathan, Kellan, Annika, Billy, and Bingham.
On Wednesday we prepared our sourdough starter. We are calling it Jack.
Measuring carefully.
Combining ingredients.
Mixing thoroughly.
Wednesday was a food lab, so I was helping make dinner.
Making biscuits.
Some potatoes...
...and carrots. We practiced flipping the stuff in the pan.
Dad tried, too.
Here's the meal I made (with a little help from Mom).
Otherwise, this week I was working on drawing maps for a fantasy kingdom I am inventing, and I was working on my paper about A Christmas Carol.
One of the many maps I made.
Working on my rough draft.
One of Mom's new teacups with one of the scones she made.
This week was a week off from reading, although I was doing some reasearch about J.R.R. Tolkien and Lord of the Rings.
We did watch some documentaries: Food, Inc. and Food, Inc. 2, both of which were about industrial agriculture and highly-processed foods, and the problems they cause. The rest of the week we watched Battlestar Galactica because we had skipped it the past couple of weeks. And on the weekend we started Roots, which was a little hard to watch. I've seen the pictures of how captured Africans were packed into ships, but seeing it with real people, even if they were pretending, was really disturbing.
And that was my week - take care!
